Friday Two Cents: Being Eleven-ish

twoCentsOldNew

You know that day once a year you get to sleep in late, eat cake and people cheer and say, “Happy Birthday!”  Well this year I don’t have that.  You see my birthday comes once every four years.

Mind you in my family we celebrate my birthday on another day, because the government changed my dates to make it easier.  But really I’m eleven-ish.  And you know what, its great being eleven.

What other eleven year old can drive to where ever he wants, or do what he wants without getting permission.  What other eleven year old can go into a bar and have a nice cold one or a good Pinot Grigio with a steak on his birthday.  Mind you I’m an eleven year old that has to shave, workout to keep in shape and instead of going to school I have to go to work.

But wait, I am going to school.  I am taking university courses and if you think about it, all the women are older than me.  Yes dating an older woman sounds like fun and does have its advantages.  Hm. Hm. Hm.  So I guess being eleven is ok.

So tonight I will celebrate my birthday at that moment when February 28th at 23:59:59 is about to turn into March 1st at 00:00:00.  For at that moment, the world will stand still and my thoughts will be of the wondrous possibilities and endless joys in that what I call; My Life.

Take your own moment and be amazed.
