Friday Two Cents: Kindergarten Logic

Today I had to go in for a class at the university on counselling but I learned more with the children than in class.  Yes, I learned about children mental health and family counselling but for some reason what I learned from the kids was more meaningful.

For some reason the kindergarten children know things I never knew about.  Like, if you throw a baseball, no matter what, the ball doesn’t do what you tell it to do.  Or the ball likes it in the glove because the ball feels cold outside the glove.  And here I was thinking I had to move and get the ball into the glove.  Who knew?

I also learned that no matter how hard you try, that darn right shoe would always find its way to the left foot.  It was like it was calling to the left foot saying, “Choose me, I belong there.”  And it would fit all right for about 10 minutes than the foot would complain that it feels funny but it does not know why. Hmm Interesting.

Or that no matter how windy or chilly it is outside, as long as it is sunny, it’s warm enough to wear shirtsleeve shirts with no jackets.  Yeah, “Its sunny out which means it must be warm too.”  I didn’t know that!

Wow, I learned a lot this week from those kindergarten children.  Hopefully they will let me in on some more interesting things. When I find out I will try to share this rare kindergarten logic.
